Miss Chan n Teddy

Hehe, I know this is an old picture from December but I just thought that it was very cute... We've waited 18 years to see Miss Chan holding a dog like that. She willingly took the dog n put it on her working pants!!! ^^v

OOps, mummy is going to scold me when she asks "Why did you have to put that picture?!" Okay...it's not the best picture but it was her birthday on the 14th of Feb before we all went off to work that evening...
New puppy... on the first day..his name is Teddy but he is getting soo mischevious now...going to puppy school next weekend...

Mum and Yu Li at a Japanese restaurant...it's all Miss Chan in this post for some reason...See you are so important in the family..one whole post for you :p

orientation week

Hey everyone...hope everyone is doing great! Over here, I'm using the uni's computer now cuz I still don't have a laptop yet. Uni is not too bad as I get to know more people. Most of the students here are also from Melbourne and it is also their first time moving out. So I suppose we share the experience. However, most of the first years actually stay on campus while I am staying off campus so it can be a bit of a hassle when they have activities in the night in uni but I wouldn't be able to go cuz it might be too dark for me to walk home. But the house that I'm living in also has two first years so hopefully I'll get to know them better too! I have to learn more on how to make small talk.

The house that I'm staying in has about 8 rooms, three bathrooms and two kitchens. It is actually two houses made into one so that is why there are so many rooms. There is a cleaner lady to clean the common area in the house like the bathrooms, kitchens and living area so it makes living out slightly more convenient. In all the rooms, I am provided with a bed, desk, closet and a mini fridge so that I can keep some of the snack items that I want. But there is also a larger fridge and freezer in the kitchen for all the students in the house to use.

Okay..i'll leave it at there now but hope to hear more news from other people! I'll be going back to Melbourne tomorrow (thursday) cuz I forgot to take lotsa stuff here...hehe...But I'll be staying for about 3 days and i'll be going back to uni on Sunday afternoon cuz official classes start on Monday.

Take care!

Me in Melbourne

Hey everyone...

Over here, it's been quiet since yu li and yen li went to Sydney. They are going for one week so it means that they are coming back next Thursday. Grr because I couldn't take off. Well, it was kind of my fault cuz I didn't give a 2 week notice so by the time I sent my leave application, it was too late already.
Like Yu Li said, we've been making CNY cookies for the past week. But my fav is still pineapple tarts. I think we finished a container in a week (thanks to Yu Li cuz there was one day that she ate 6!) Lol...mum wants us to make kok chai but refuses to allow us to use the ready-made shortcrust pastry from the supermarket. So she proudly says that she will make it herself then, but I know she'll ask me to be her little helper eventually. Hehe...

Also, I have started my summer project (which I bought two summers ago :p). It is a 1000 piece puzzle of a scenery. But believe me, it's harder than it looks. It took us (Yu Li and me) 4 days to get 1/4 of it done...n that is because Yu Li is good at puzzle...I take twice as long...hehe...But I'll get it done :)

Kook Yee, I hope your cookie making goes well this week! I'm sure it will be great! Hope to hear from you all soon!

Hi and Yu Li thanks for the recipe. We have targetted to make a peanut cookie too but one using peanut butter??!! and one shrewsbury cookie - using lemon. We're going to bake this weekend. I will still copy your recipe for future reference.

CNY cookies

So mr jin what cookies have you been making? well so far we've made pineapple tarts.. lots of it.. i think we've made 3 lots of recipes so far! haha.. butter cookies coated in choc with almond inside.. don't know what the proper name is.. and going to make peanut cookies today

kook yee, this peanut cookies is very easy :)

350g roasted peanuts
240g caster sugar
1tsp vanilla essense
350g plain flour, sifted
1 cup groundnut oil
extra peanuts

1) Blend peanuts in electric blender till fine and crumbly
2) Mix peanuts, sugar, vanilla and flour. Make a well in the centre and pour in groundnut oil. Mix well with a wooden spoon. Lightly run though the mixture with finger to bind intoa crumbly dough
3) Shape into balls about the size of a cherry. Make a shallow dent in each ball and press a peanut into each ball/ Brush each cookie with egg glaze (egg yolks)
4) Bake in a preheated oven (175 C) for 20-25 mins or until golden

so have you guys started making kok chai? :D

To the Ho family: Definitely THE BEAGLE. :)

I'm up for baking cookies too. Might as well do something productive since I'm still waiting for CIMB's HR department to get back to me. They're so inefficient! Graduate jobs are really hard to come by now. I read online that during good times in Singapore there were 126 job vacancies for every 100 people. Now it's dropped to 89 vacancies per 100. I can only imagine that it's much worse here in Msia. But I'm still hopeful I'll get a job soon!

PS: Mum says she'll post something once the maid gets back next week. So patience everyone! :)

cny cookies

I don't know if mei yee would be interested in making peanut puff this year. If not I've this great idea of baking one /two 'simple' cookies with my brood. Great chefs from down under - any suggestion? Maybe provide us the recipe as well - remember simplicity is the name of the game!

Glad you've gotten the permission to have a dog - remember to take good care of it as it will be with you for at least 10 years. Many people neglect after the novelty wears off. We have started fresh food once a day for Trusty with the dry food in the morning. the maid cooks once a week and divide them into 7 containers which we bring down daily from freezer. So far it has been chicken breast with carrot mixed in with rice when served!

Dissection

Oh my God. That was probably the most traumatic thing I've ever gone through! Haha that completely rules ou tme being a surgeon. No, the frog didn't twitch, I mean, its been sitting in brine for 2 or so years. It was so ... dead!
Its so sad to think that these frogs were *bread* for us to kill. The entire purpose of their life was for us to tear them apart. My friend did the dissecting and I did the observations. I hope we never have to do that again! *Shivers*... Maybe an animal rights activist as a career? lol.

Cool!

Haha... are you kidding? I love dissections~

A couple of years ago, we dissected a lamb's heart in school- so much fun! Oh lmao apparently the frog still twitches even when it's dead? Something I heard from my friend... hope you have fun =D

Just wondering... what do you reckon? Spanador (cockerspaniel X labrador- looks like a smaller sized labrador) or a beagle? I say Spanador but Yuli and Veili wants a beagle. Vote pls!

love xx

School Tomorrow

... School tomorrow ... *heaving sigh*
Everything is going to be terribly intense ... stupid teachers dont plan their lessons properly. Must also dissect a frog *cringe*... our teacher mentioned 'lots of thick layers of fat that you have to saw through". Was informed of ah Hann's hamster dissection ... eek!

haha my dad is an ox ... should be an interesting year for him ... am eagerly anticipating the next rooster year. It's gonna be like 9 more years, isn't it =(

And yes, i really would settle for any animal. Anything at all. Even an iguana. Or a turtle. Or some other suchlike non-interractive thing... If any of you have nothing better to do, start convincing my mother, please and thank you!

Claudine

ps. please please PLEASE everyone sign who you are! haha i feel like such a hypocrite. but seriously people. please.

Here doggy doggy

Hi guys! How is everyone going? The Ngans are starting school in a couple of days?

Haha... we've still got another month and a half to go before uni officially starts. The 1st round uni offers come out in about a week or so.

Oh yeah Yuli and I will be going to Sydney soon =) Since I missed out on it the last time, just thought that I should take advantage of my bumming around days just in case I never actually find the time to make it there. Thought about June/July when it's winter but I'm not sure about my studying schedule yet so don't want to take any chances- should be good =D

Aw Jin you lost your sunnies! And the really cool ones too =P Zara don't have them no more?

WOOT!!! guess what guys?? Permission to get a dog officially granted!!! Ever heard of a SPANADOR? (Cocker spaniel x labrador)

xx yenli

Ungrateful????

Aiyooo....what happen??? William was surprised that T complained about the trip....Good la...next trip, no need to take her (W said I cakap aja).
Can you please get the unemployed lawyer to be more descriptive?? This will make the grand kids (esp mine)appreciate what we daughters having been going through.
I meant call her at SK's house this evening rather than in her Klang house....dont care her...pickle her longer....shd have kept her in Klang.
Having said that, her opinion is not important....as long as we have done our part....but Buddha also got fire....susah la.
Making your one & only cookie this year - groundnut puffs?? Mine very lazy - want to use commercial short crust pastry...I am not keen...
Am more relax...let my idling spinsters cook...rather than being glued in cantonese opera & "Charmed" series...
Till then,
Leng Yee

Apa khabar! Tuan Ng here! Yeah I know FINALLY right? Will try to get mum to contribute soon :)

The T gave mum hell at the market yesterday. Was basically complaining about the whole Australia trip. Don't think mum was very sympathetic and the T got angry cos mum had enough and didn't take her to her weekly Tesco trip. The T 'fat pei hei' and refused to go home with mum and got a lift from her friend instead. Lucky I wasn't there!

Gotta go to the optician's now. Left my glasses and sunglasses in Changi Airport. Argh... Hopefully by the next time I write I'll be having a job!

PS: To the Ngan kids I'm having your Christmas presents! When do you want them? ;)

Now for the CNY!
cannot wait.....................for the holiday again.

still having holiday hangover.

By the way, everyone is talking about dogs...dogs...dogs... except for Ms C from canada who would settle for any kind of animal....

and next year is the year of the OX......mooo........anybody getting a MOO?

as for me....i m still hoping that next year will be a Mooo year - BULL RUN again.

Hey Y'all

First off: Happy New Year!

So much to read, so little time! You guys are so active ... haha. Must pay better attention!

Whose dog? Very cute, I must say. Am trying to convince parents to get dog ... or cat ... or any animal in general.

So much snow here. Have attached a picture! Almost more than a meter. Luckily, haven't been forced outside to do anything much.

How was everybody's Christmas? Boxing day was fun ... 5 new sweaters =) yay!

Finals comming up soon ... study, study, study ... no rest for the weary!

Anyhow... will keep this short.

xoxo
